What is a CSA? Community Supported Agriculture is a combined effort between a farming operation and a community of supporters (subscribers) that creates a direct relationship between the farmer and consumer.

Each growing season , subscribers provide some of the money needed for the farm to operate by purchasing a "share" of the season's
harvest. Operating costs include seeds, labor, growing supplies, and soil-building amendments. In turn, the farm distributes to the subscribers the harvest, usually on a weekly basis.

The CSA model is an economically viable way for small-scale farmers to produce small amounts of a wide variety of crops. CSAs foster relationships between the grower, the consumer, the crop and the land on which it is grown.

Native Farm Flowers is now offering CSA shares of flowers to homes and businesses on a weekly basis from May thru December 2010. You will have the option of receiving an arrangement in a glass vase or a bucket of fresh blooms to arrange at home yourself. Each week, you exchange the empty vase or bucket for a fresh one full of beautiful, specialty cut flowers. Starting in October, dried flowers, wreaths and centerpieces are another subscriber option. Pickup locations will be at the farm on Wing Road in Greenfield, 150 East Avenue in Saratoga or at the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market. Delivery can also be arranged for local businesses.

CSA Subscription Form. Native Farm is offering two types of fresh flower subscriptions; arrangements in vases and grower’s buckets. The cost savings is more than 15 to 20% off our retailed prices.

The flower CSA will begin the week of May 10 and run thru hard frost (usually in late September). To join, print out the CSA form choose your program, starting date, pickup location and mail payment and form to the address below. I will contact you with a confirmation and map(s) for pickup.

Fresh Flower Programs

Arrangements

Arrangements are in glass vases that are prearranged by us with an artful mix of the weeks

best flowers. You simply return last week’s vase or basket, along with the holder, and then

take home a new arrangement for the week.

Grower’s Bucket

Grower’s buckets are freshly picked flowers that you arrange in your vase(s) at home.

Each bucket will have mixed flowers, herbs, greens and will generously fill a large container.

Fall Program

The Fall Program begins in October and will include: a dried bouquet and a fabulous fall wreath in October, a dried bouquet, a Thanksgiving centerpiece in November and then a super fresh evergreen Holiday wreath and centerpiece in December.
